YAMAHA XJ650 MAXIM ![]() ![]() ![]() 1980-'81 Maxim 650 above - 1982-'83 on the right The XJ650 Seca and Maxim shared many components, most notably the motor. Since the subject bike has high handlebars and the rider is sitting bolt upright, it's very likely to be the Maxim cruiser version since the Seca, a more sporty bike, had lower handlebars and the rider leaned forward somewhat. I believe this to be the 650cc version of the Maxim since it's the only model with both a circular headlight AND front flashers attached to the lower triple clamp (the Seca 650's flashers were mounted above the lower triple clamp and the triple clamp cover was black, not chrome and it didn't say "YAMAHA"). 650 Maxim's were produced between 1980 and 1983. I believe this bike to be either an '82 or '83 model because of the black-painted valve covers and cylinders and the unpainted head (the head and the rest of the motor were not painted black as it was on the Seca). -- Last edit: 2014-06-04 07:21:10 |
