In one scene where the car gets shot, the paint flakes off around the bullet holes and you can see the original red paint underneath. I thought that was odd. This movie came out in January 2013, and the Sonic's first model year was 2012. So they should have been widely available by late 2011. The movie was clearly made with the support of General Motors, so I can't see why it would be better for them to paint this car than get another one if they decided it absolutely could not be red for whatever reason. ('it clashes with the colour palette' or something)
