That's the low end model Kapitän with the simpler horizontal grille motif. The big "OPEL" letters mounted on the front fender identify it as a very early build from 1964, too, since the script was deleted from the fender and the grille received an OPEL badge on the top left side instead within the first year of production. The Kapitän model was the only one that had its name spelled out in big serif letters between the tail lamps, as is visible in the rear view. Diplomat and Admiral had a cursive script mounted on the right side of the deck lid. I think those were beautiful cars *swoon*. Modern, clean and 1960s-chic like a Mies van der Rohe International Style building on wheels. |
