NUR 111 plate issued 1952 and looks faked on rear, but could be cherished number re-registered. 1961+ S1 - can't see rear badging clearly to say if later 1964+ 4.2. |

I believe the drop floor came in '62? The main pic hints at rear badging of 4.2 but not clear as you say. Beautiful automobile! |

Yes - drop floor was June 62, but I've never known what difference it makes externally. Also on early Es, the first few hundred had external bonnet catches, but again I don't know when this stopped - was it June 62 when the floor dropped or seperate date? |

@ dsl: June '62 sounds good to me? I thought somewhere "mid '62". The deal is you can see the dropped floor externally! Most of the side shots show the floor extending down. This one is very clear. Often it is missing which is an early car. Always a pleasure to read your comments. |

Thanks for kind words. Can you find a clear example of earlier floor to give me a clear before-and-after comparison for future use? |

@dsl: Sort of hard to prove when something is not there especially when most of the Series I will have the floor. Here is close up of the dropped floor. /vehicle_112272-Jaguar-E-Type-1965.html This on the other hand appears to have the flat floor. /vehicle_20087-Jaguar-E-Type-1961.html Much easier to identify in person when viewing an actual car. -- Last edit: 2011-11-08 15:02:12 |

@4x4peru. Excellent examples - thanks. E-type timeline with some useful pics of early features (bonnet catches and welded bonnet louvres) at http://web-cars.com/e-type/timeline1.php . |

@dsl: Very informative link on the E type. Obviously one of my all time favorites ( I drive a '67 coupe). |
