I think so too (though not easy to see the difference). |

Yes, it's difficult to see a classic get trashed like that. I am wondering if this Impala is the same vehicle as the one in the parking lot scene after being hit by the patrol car trying (but failing) to imitate Bond's leap using the trailer as a ramp? I raise this question because this was filmed on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, while the "The Mint parking lot" is at Universal Studios in California. It certainly could be if they transported the cars used for traffic out to LA for the parking lot scene. Indeed, I only learned recently that Leroy Hollis (aka the Las Vegas Sheriff "There goes that son-of-a-bitch and saboteur!") was really a transport coordinator, including on this film and "Live and Let Die", where he is one of the Louisiana State Troopers trying to stop Bond and Adam's boat chase by setting up a "river block" at Miller's Bridge. He's the one who crawls out of the river soaking wet and throwing his hat down in frustration. HAH! He never had many lines, but the look he has is perfect for a menacing cop role! I guess after being fired from the Sheriff's position, and then probably fired from the State Police in Louisiana, he couldn't get that job he wanted with the San Francisco Police Department circa 1985. Just as well as Bond would probably have humiliated him a third time with the fire engine vs. Dodge Diplomat / Plymouth Fury. |
