an_unusual_eye ◊ 2010-12-31 17:49	i had to do a bit of quick research to supplement what i thought i already knew. while this body style for Corolla did start in 1984, the GT-S trim/engine was released for the 1985 model year. the 1985 model had a different side decal style than the one here... and the trim strip across the nose above the bumper was black regardless of the body color of the car on the 1985 models. the 1985 decal looked like this: the 1986 GT-S looked like this one, as did a few 1987 GT-S models that slipped through the showrooms before the rear wheel drive AE86 platform was replaced with the AE92 front wheel drive model, officially for the 1987 model year. my mother had a red 1986 GT-S hatch (new) when i was freshly legal to drive... they were fast, solid, well designed cars. i stumbled across this short tribute blog that i thought might be worth linking: http://www.carlustblog.com/2008/06/old-school-japa.html -- Last edit: 2011-01-10 05:27:39
