Don't know where that "1978 only" comes from. Do you know something we don't? Also, what's with that "BMC" tag? |

the BMC tag is the "company" in the movie... hence the modified grilles and little "tweaks" on so many of these newly added vehicles. i definitely have no insider information on these, and in fact i'd wager that you know these much better than i do. the first Landau example that i found in a VERY quick search (standard catalog) for the 1978 model year had the rear skirts, and the Landau example that i found (also standard catalog) for 1977 had open rear wheel wells. that was what sparked the thought, but also why i was sure to leave the year as a question, as i know that the body style was certainly offered earlier. i just found a Landau example in the 1975 brochure with the same skirts though, so it would seem that both of these could possibly be from the full 1975-78 range. the cars in the showroom segment of the movie show "1976" roof signage, so if they're to be trusted... |

OK. Just wanted to be sure you did not have specific info I didn't. As I have posted in other LTD threads, the '78's (and equivalent '78 Grand Marquis) can be id'ed from the front by their wider under-bumper rubber spoilers. However, I know of no way at all to differentiate the 4 years at the rear. |

thank you... i was sure that someone could clarify it, and if nobody had, i would have tried to narrow it down ~ or broaden it, actually, in this case ~ myself a bit later. |

But '77/'78 owing to vinyl roof style. |
