I'm wondering if this is a wartime model, with those tyres; maybe even a Kommandeurwagen? Actually production resumed under British Army Major Ivan Hirst in 1945: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Hirst

Yes, it looks like a T 87 Kommandeurswagen in Afrika-Korps Color

4-wheel drive, based on the chassis of the T166 Schwimmwagen

Please change:

It's Kommandeurswagen (with an "s" between Kommandeur and Wagen).

Our only Typ 87. The other (3) Kommandeurswagens are listed as Typ 82. Correct??

-Typ 82 was the Kubelwagen
-Typ 82E was a Kubelwagen with a KDF body (@dsl, this would be the other Kommandeurswagen you have edited)
-Typ 87 was a 4x4 Schwimmwagen driveline on a Kubelwagen chassis, with a KDF body on the top. Rumers has it only one has survived, the rest claiming to by Typ 87 are replicas.

To me, this looks like a 82E rather than the Typ 87. Also the way it takes off looks more like a RWD (first gear was 4x4 on the Typ 87)

So should we change this and the other three Kommandeurswagens to Typ 82E ??

@dsl: In short, yes. Two are already verified replicas so 82E replicas then. The Car Crazy May be a replica as well, at least the lid handle looks newer from here. The Valkyrie car may be a Typ 82E rather than 87, replica or not, more details may be visible in the movie.

The subject car doesn't seem to have widened wings/fenders (5 cm/2 inches each inner side) like the Typ 87 had to accommodate the larger wheels. But they look like newer ones, with higher taillights, so possibly, but not likely, replaced along with smaller wheels, on a Typ 87. Rebuilds were done after the war, at the factory, or later by the owner, making most 82E/92/87 out there unoriginal. I would say this is one, a rebuilt/replica 82E.

(Actually the (factory) rebuild would probably still be on the Typ 82E chassis, with a newer body on top. A replica would use the Typ 82 chassis. Being the same down to the position of the type plate, in front of the gear lever on the Typ 82, behind on a real Typ 82E.)

Good, I can understand that bit. The other info is way over my head, so I think I'll quietly run away....
