Valiant Ranger in Aust. Not sure of ZA designation - Rebel I think. Australian Valiants by now had the Aussie Hemi 6 cylinder, while the ZA export models were fitted with the Slant 6. -- Last edit: 2010-03-19 23:47:03 |

Were these many Australian cars from GM, Chrysler and Ford, all exported to ZA or weren't some assmbled there, too? The European GM-cars, running there, were as far as I know, all built there. Any many other brands, VW, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Datsun, etc, too. -- Last edit: 2010-03-20 00:07:39 |

I think the Chrysler's were built in Australia and shipped there, some of the Fords and Holdens were assembled in Aust and some assembled in ZA |

It's a South African-assembled Valiant "Rebel" from 1973, the only year it was offered on the S.A. market with rectangle headlights. After 1972, local Valiants were assembled in Silverton (Pretoria) from CKD body packs from Australia mated with South African-made "Slant Six" engines and Chrysler 660 Torqueflite transmissions. |
