Used the pic from episode 1.02, but it's the star of the Series, at least in season one. Its role in episode 1.01 is 3*** but same car is always used in following episodes, so let's go for 4**** and maybe 5***** in future. Until now I only have 5 episodes and maybe it will be difficult for me to get more. My episodes are in spanish 'latino' from some south america country.

Maisto makes a 1:24 model that looks just like this: Link to "www.maisto.com"

I have one sitting on my computer desk, but I was never sure if it was based on an actual police car. Thank you for putting my doubts to rest!

I think five stars would be accurate for this one.

These cars were not available to the public. They made for the California Highway Patrol using a Special 2 door sedan body and a Century chassis/drivetrain and exterior trim. The front brakes were from the Roadmaster as they were larger. Only 270 were made...

Mentioned here in the GM Heritage Center Collection Link to "www.gmheritagecenter.com"
"The favorite cops and robbers TV show of the 1950s, Highway Patrol starring Broderick Crawford, also immortalized the Buick Century. Crawford often drove Buick Century 'Black and Whites' in the show. It should be noted that the actual California Highway Patrol cars, were in fact, the Special 2-door Sedans with Century markings, Roadmaster engines and 3 speed manual transmissions."

When they started filming Highway Patrol, The CHP let the production company use a few of those Century Model 66s in the show. I read somewhere online that half of those 270 Century cruisers built for the California Highway Patrol had the dnyaflow transmission. I had a box set of Highway Patrol episodes where I noticed Broderick Crawford pulling down the shift lever in one of those Buicks and the car is going in Reverse. On all GM cars with automatic transmissions in the 1950s reverse was the last position on the gear selector quadrant.
