That is really f...ing disgusting that they are ruining the classic...

It was already ruined.....

I'm just gonna speak my mind here and be done with it. A lot of people on here are complaining that they are RUINING these classic cars but you know what? They are OWNED by people and THOSE PEOPLE have plans and dreams for THEIR cars. Overhaulin TAKES those dreams and makes them a reality.

You wanna drive around in a beat-to-crap 442? Go ahead. Got the money to restore it? Fine, great! Please do. But if you want to modernize it a bit, make it DRIVE well (not 60's bias ply tire well), by all means. And if you can have it done FOR you for FREE??? Awesome. More power to you.
At least this isn't Pimp My Ride where they make the outside and interior..... different, but 99% of the time leave the worn out busted engine and suspension alone.

@rjluna2 = You know what? I bet every, single one of the car owners on Overhaulin' THANK GOD that Chip Foose and his crew overhauled their cars! So, you might want to just keep your negative comments to yourself. "Ruining the classic ..." BS. Chip Foose goes out of his way to honor the original car and make it better with updated engines, suspension, etc.

And for the record -- I think THIS particular project is one of his best! This car is absolutely beautiful.

I agree with Benfolio: You wanna drive around in a beat-to-crap 442? Go ahead.

I don't feel by "ruined" that there is necessarily a criticism of the owners.
We are talking about the historical alteration of a vehicle so that it no longer looks like an original. That is anathema to us purists.

I have used an art analogy before. If someone was to buy the Mona Lisa, then draw a mustache and beard on her face and paint modern clothes over the original, he would be within his rights as an owner, but the art world would be horrified.
I see it the same way when antique cars are altered. The owner has every right, but I cringe.

Commander , some things should really NOT be left original on this cars like the orignal BRAKES for example , modern disc brakes all round

Each to his own.

The more visual a change is, the more it bothers me. Hidden modifications I can accept if necessary for the sake of safety.

Commander you know the concept of "super muscle car" ??

there many shops who did this with old muscle (often not so great condition) they leave the exterior mostly intact but the interior get modern treatment with things like modern disc brakes, anti rol bars, power steering, AC unit , modersn shocks/springs , often a cat. in the exaust , it makes this cars safer and more comfortable to drive while mainting the exterior look and big engine power :D
