It was not called "C" in France. Actually I'd never heard of a "323 C" designation until a few months ago when I saw it on several Wikipedia pages. In what country was it actually called like that ? Does anyone know ? |

It may have been badged 323 Sportiva, thus made for FR and not for EU. |

A decade later, I got some information - courtesy of L'Auto-Journal - about the career of that Mazda in France. It was indeed called 323 Sportiva at its launch until the 1997 model year, when all those local names (Astina, Familia, Astina) were dropped. However, for the next model year, 1998, it was renamed 323 Sporty, to differentiate it from the newer, blander 3-door hatchback. |
