Dark Blue NYPD car? |

Usually the dark blue and white cars are used by certain units like Traffic Enforcement, Auxiliary Police, and School Safety. I don't think you'd see one used by a precinct. Of course, the 15th Precinct doesn't exist. It is frequently used in movies and TV shows, like "NYPD Blue." |

Maybe they thought it would look cooler? ![]() Either way, the wheels suggest that this is an authentic police-package Dodge Charger, which me likey ![]() |

These vehicles are parked in a cage in New Milford, CT now. The ambulance included. You can see my photos on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/38734842@N04/ There are 4 versions of the police vehicle parked there, in different states of crashed. |

Hey, thanks a lot for the pictures ![]() Could you by any chance tell us what year(s) they are or if they're true police-package Chargers? |

This isn't a legit police-package Charger...it doesn't have the police wheels on it. This looks to me like a plain, V6-powered civilian model dressed up in police livery, with a light bar. |

As I've made clear already, this definitely is a police-package Dodge Charger as it has the 18-inch bolt-on wheel covers found on these models: http://www.emtbravophotos.com/PhotoHunt/Wor39.jpg But let's say that theoretically these police-package wheels were put on a regular model (which would be unlikely anyways since most "police" Chargers on film are R/T models for some reason), the true way to confirm it is by seeing if the gear shifter is mounted on the steering column instead of in the center console since only police-package Chargers have this. |

Those wheels on a police Charger are new to me. Every department around here has taken to using police-package Chargers (V6 and V8 models alike), and they all have black five spoke wheels with chromed center caps. |

All police-package Dodge Chargers come with those black five-spoke wheels that you mention, as seen here: http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2008/09/03/098432.2-lg.jpg However, there are two options that have been around since 2006 when it first debuted. The first is to have the chrome center caps that you speak of and the second is to have the 18-inch bolt-on wheel covers seen here. Most departments in your area probably prefer the center cap option (which look way better in my opinion). This is also exactly how it works with the Crown Victoria Police Interceptor, except that their full-size wheel covers aren't bolted on. -- Last edit: 2009-05-27 00:55:42 |

This was a 2006-2008 model. Apart from the wheels, I'm just about certain that this indeed was a police-package model as there's a shot where the officers are getting in and the driver motions towards the gear shifter on the steering wheel column. Only police Chargers have the shifter on the column as opposed to regular models which have them on the center console.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I found this vehicle listed on the Cinema Vehicles car rental website. It is listed as a 2006 model and although it does have police wheels, the gear shifter is clearly mounted on the center console: Link to "www.cinemavehicles.com" |
