carchasesfanatic wrote mmm econoline...?

Hecubus wrote Econoline? E-series? It's the full-size Ford van, whatever the proper name is (I still don't have it figured out).

junkman wrote Ford Econoline, then depending on the payload it's E-150, E-250 or E-350. I think the versions with the long rear overhang are called 'Club Wagon', or, at least they used to.

explorer4x4 wrote I looked it up at forvehicles.com and here is the complete list of models and trims:
Today Econoline and E-series are the same, a while back, the Econoline was the passenger van and E-series the cargo van.
1. E-150 XL
2. E-150 XLT
3. E-150 Chateau
The 2006 lineup doesn't offer the E-250 vans. Only E-150 and E-350
4. E-350 SuperDuty XL
5. E-350 SuperDuty XLT
6. E-350 SuperDuty Chateau
7. E-350 SuperDuty XL Extended Length
8. E-350 SuperDuty XLT Extended Length
XL is the base model, XLT is the mid-class model and Chateau is the 1st class or luxury model only availible on the Econoline van series. All vans listed above are availible in Cargo and Passenger van models. Also availible are Ford Econoline E-150 Conversion Vans in the Chateau model.
Don't beleive me? Check it out yourself: http://www.fordvehicles.com/trucks/eseries/models/index.asp?v=html

explorer4x4 wrote The van in the pic is the fourth generation Ford Econoline E-350 Extended Length. Can't tell ya if it is Chateau, XL or XLT. I believe it is a XLT seeing as it is a commercial vehicle. Yes, it is a Fourth Generation (1992-2006 according to Wikipedia) Ford Econoline E-350 Extended Length XLT Commercial Passenger Conversion Van. Long name so for short it is just Ford E-350 Ext. Length XLT.

explorer4x4 wrote Also in the picture is two Ford F-350 SuperDuties, different years, a Ford Taurus or LTD/Crown Victoria and another Fourth Generation Ford Econoline E-150 XLT cargo van.

antp wrote "Extended Length XLT Commercial Passenger Conversion Van" is 5 character too long to fit in the field :/ :D

explorer4x4 wrote The car to the far back looks like a Jeep Wagoneer. All the rest seem like Fords. a Taurus,
two Econolines and two F-series.

Hecubus wrote No, the car to the back is a Jeep Cherokee. Although there was a Wagoneer model offered, it had wood panelling, and since the basic Cherokee is more common anyways, it's unlikely to be a Wagoneer.

qwerty_86 wrote That's not a Taurus. That's a Crown Victoria.

explorer4x4 wrote Wait, no it is either a Mercury Mystique or Ford Contour, only Contours and Mystiques had those headlights.

firebird86 wrote The Econoline pictured above is an E-350 XL extended window van. It is NOT an XLT, Econoline XLT's have Chrome Trim around the headlights and grill shroud, this one doesnt. XLT's have power windows and locks, this is a prisoner transport van, Id be amazed if it had seats for the "guests" and not steel benchs. Econolines are available in 3 trim levels, XL- Base van, XLT,which was a convenience package that consists of AM/FM, Tilt Wheel, Carpeting front to rear doors, Headliner, Chrome Bumpers front and rear, Chrome mirrors and full size wheel covers. The top of the line is the Chateau Passenger Van, (normally only built on the E-150 chassis because E-350's ride like a dumptruck) even these are very rare, almost all are special orders, dealers dont stock them because they are cost prohibitive and have a tendency to stay on the lot way too long. I hope this helps.

What a long name...

CarChasesFanatic ES

Wouldn't XL actually stand for Extended Length??

Ford_Guy US

2008-11-07 22:43

No, XL is a trim. The one after this one would be XLT, which is a higher trim. Is 'Extended Length' really necessary as part of the name? Or perhaps even 'Passenger Van?'

I don't know, i just copied what they said :/

I'm not even sure XL would be part of the name. I don't recall these earlier Econolines having XL or XLT anywhere on the badging.

Either way, it's a 1992-1994 model.

"Extended Length" can be shorted to just "Extended" (as Ford uses just Extended) and "Passenger Van" is overly redundant information, its
obvious these are passenger vans.

This should be listed as 1992 Ford Club Wagon XLT [E-350].
