This scene was based on the murders of Paul Martin and Betty Jo Booker who were both shot by the Phantom Killer on North Park Road in the early hours of the 14th April 1946. In the real killings, Booker was performing with her band at the VFW Club on the intersection of West 4th Street and Oak Street on the Saturday night before. When she finished at 1:30 AM the following Sunday morning, she was picked up by Paul Martin; her old friend to be taken to a slumber party on the other side of town. Paul's body was found at 6:30 AM; about a mile and a half from his car (a 1946 Ford coupe) while Betty's body was found at 11:30 AM; about two miles from the location of Paul's body and a further three miles from where Paul's car was. Unlike the scene, Betty Jo was shot twice and she had a saxophone at the time of her murder and it wasn't there when the bodies were found, it was later found in the case on the 24th October 1946 in a underbrush on Morris Lane about 117 yards from the location of Betty Jo Booker's body. -- Last edit: 2016-03-07 10:35:06 |
