I guess it is somewhere between 1981-85. http://www.angelfire.com/ks/kburditt/ramcharger.html claims it to be 1983. Comments? |

Well the movie was filmed in 1983 so i guess it could be a 83 or maybe a 1982 Ramcharger. |

I am interested in finding out what motor the truck had. I know it had a street charger supercharger produced by Weind. Could it be a 318 or a 360 v8? |

Maybe it was a souped up 360 or a big block ! -- Last edit: 2014-04-03 22:32:11 |

i think the ramcharger in this movie was a 1983,it had a 2 yr only used grill, this one did have a 360 the later 1985 and on,ya had to order the 360 or buy it already on the lot with one in it,i love the ramcharger, and i i am buying one to replicate chucks ramcharger, chuck kicks maxiumum ass. |

One of my favorite movies as a kid. My oldest brother's first truck was an 84 Ramcharger with a 318 and a 4 speed. I learned to drive a standard in that truck. |

I like the truck, but ONLY if it's nice and clean. What ever happened to it? |

He was buried inside of it via a bulldozer. However, it being a Chuck Norris movie and thus immune to the laws of physics, he uses the turbocharger to actually DRIVE out of the hole. hence the muddiness. |

I have 3 of these in my collection, hope to add more of them to it to go with my Power Wagons and Charger :) -- Last edit: 2013-04-03 06:40:20 |

The movie came out in April of 1983,so it's extremely doubtful they even had access to a 1983 Ramcharger while it was being filmed, much less the desire to beat the crap out of a brand new truck. |

I wonder if anyone can help me, the siren in this Ramcharger was very unique, it had the normal police siren and a distinct strobe sound, I read online that it was infact a Whelen Strobe Power Pack discharging and recharging over and over, can anyone confirm this and would anyone have any idea about the model of the power pack. Second question is about the red and blue beacons on the roof of the Ramcharger, again would anyone know the make and model of the Beacons ?? This is a link to the siren sounds if it's any help. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GW_7v-510Hg Kind Regards, John Carter. -- Last edit: 2020-06-07 19:13:02 |

So, this is a movie. Just because you see an electric clutch activated blower does not mean that the Ramcharcher(s) in this movie even has one. There are at least 5 different Ramchargers in this movie (not talking about the yellow one near the end). One even has a clear front sun roof (never offered by dodge) in the trail scene with rocks where the suburban gets stuck and the hero pushes it. One (at least) has yellow fog lights down low, others do not. Most of those wagons had a 318 with a computer controlled (O2 sensor) carburetor and a catilytic converter as well as egr and an air pump for California. Some had a 360 with a carburator and cat and egr and air pump. Earlier ones from ‘78 and ‘79 had a removeable fiberglass rear top and a tailgate (as opposed to a big hatch) and had 440’s in them. Any of these wagons in this movie could have any combination of parts as this is a movie and they bought numerous vehicles to shoot all the scenes (just like Dukes of Hazzard where they destroyed hundreds of Chargers filming jumping and crashing), so, who knows what is in the (any number) Ramchargers in this movie for an engine. I don’t think anyone would spend the money for a clutch operated blower, and the fuel management modifications for a movie bugeteted like this one. I have built (over the last 25+ years) an 85 Ramcharger ( in several different configurations) with body, drivetrain, and suspension modifications to be a good off-road camping vehicle for me to use in hard to get to locations. This includes engine, transmission, transfer cases, axles, driveshafts, body lift, lockers, beadlock wheels tire size and more. I like the movie pretty well. Just don’t look for too much in the components of the Rancharger(s) used in the “movie” - it is a movie. |

Everyone commenting about the truck being buried, need remember the truck is already a mess when we first see it and throughout the movie.. the "burial sequence" only happens late in the movie. |
