Is this based on a Cadillac Allante? |
◊ 2007-11-16 02:56 |
i was thinking another Monte Carlo with the top chopped off. |

You can see where they grafted another front end to it to extend the nose length. http://www.allantesource.com/ -- Last edit: 2007-11-16 03:05:52 |

parts of it looks like a Chevy Celebrity |

It might be a Thunderbird or a Mustang. In the movie it`s called "Avanti Pilgrim". -- Last edit: 2007-11-16 15:21:54 |

This car does look stretched out, there's too much overhang at the front and rear. |

Those doors are definitely from a Monte Carlo. |

I remember studying Romeo and Juliet in English class at school, and for some reason our English teacher once said "What cars would they drive? What would Romeo drive? Alfa Romeo, perhaps?" He was a funny bloke. We later saw this film in class. -- Last edit: 2007-11-17 01:53:30 |

Made for Movie? |

I don't think it's a completely custom made car built for the movie, it's likely to be an ordinary car that someone customised. |

Looks like some '80s Treser-Audi. |

I think it's more likely to be an American car. |

I will agree, judging the budget for this film, that it's unlikely they would have destroyed an Italian-coachbuilt Allante just for this. Monte Carlo is a better guess. |

Doesn`t it look at least like a customized Thunderbird/Mustang? I think so. ![]() |

Which year Monte Carlo would this be? I think this could possibly be an 80s Mustang. |

I was agreeing that it was not any Cadillac. I'm not going any farther. ![]() |

Some scenes in this movie were filmed in Mexico City. Near my house kept the car, so I had this car in front of me, which is actually a Chevrolet Monte Carlo. |

all i know is its pretty ugly, the front hangs out to much and it has imitation '96 chevy astro hubcaps -- Last edit: 2009-06-24 07:11:56 |

http://arcanegel.com/main/fun/r_j/caryellw.jpg Here's a mockup ad for the car if that's helpful. According to the website I found it, it was on the movies website along with a bunch of other logos and ads that were designed for the movie and showed on billboards etc. http://arcanegel.com/main/fun/r_j/ Someone had mentioned its name being avanti pilgrim. Avanti is/was an actual car company but that logo doesn't look like it says avanti. |

Best I I can guess is it says Ariosto. A 1500's poet. Wrote Orlando Furioso. Referenced in Don Quixote footnote. |

I actually talked to the one of the set designers for R+J and he told me that Romeo's car was based on a stretched and re-bodied 1974 Mustang II... Take a look at this one and make the comparison... The Capulets car "The Executioner" was based off an 80's Monte Carlo... Here's a link to the Mustang II it was based upon... Link to "www.mustangdriver.com" -- Last edit: 2023-10-26 04:21:53 |
