Early 60's Chevy or GMC (don't know them well enough to say which) |

1960-62 Chevy/GMC 1 ton,Has what I think is a single line Holmes wrecker unit on it?(too blurry) |

It is blurry, but with what little I can see of the cowl insignia, I'd have to say this was a 1962. 1 Tons of that period were C-30's. -- Last edit: 2007-08-13 00:02:12 |

With that windshield, it's a 1960-63 truck, indeed. But I'd say a 1963 model more than a 1962 one. No other emblem / insignia (1960 to 1962) matches that shape. ⇒ 1963 Chevrolet C-30? |

My (double) mistake: • About the MY, I didn't: - check the movie release date: 1962... - look enough to the truck? The hood seems to be a 1960-61 "non-sharp end" one, and what I thought was a 1963 emblem is not at the good location: too close from the wheel arch. Maybe a part of the painted ad on the door? So mea culpa , it's more likely a 1960-61 Chevrolet Apache. • About the model given, it seems not possible to see if this truck has (or not) dual rear wheels, so couldn't it also be a ¾-ton C-20? Or a 1½-ton C-40, which shares the same light-duty cab for this generation of C/K-Series? Towing capacity seems to depend more on States rules than on payloads, so even a C-20 can be used as a tow truck... If sure of a C-30 model, it should have it's C3603 chassis-cab inner code: ⇒ 1960 Chevrolet C-30 Apache [C3603] But if any doubt: ⇒ 1960 Chevrolet C-Series Apache? -- Last edit: 2014-11-23 04:00:47 |

For what it's worth, the truck seems to be a display or demo vehicle for Wreck-Master towing equipment. Driver's door says "Wreck-Master Power Wreckers". Left fender: "Model 410". Left side of hood: "Built to carry the load". Horizontal beam in the back: "Wreck-Master". Vertical beam in the back: "Power Operated". |
