Morris Oxford utility. The saloon version was built in the late '50s and is still(?) in production in India as the Hindustan Ambassador. The utility version may have continued in production into the '60s? |

This is supposedly 1970 East African Safari footage - that year the rally only ran in Kenya and Uganda - but the Capri is a fake EAS car - check the normal headlights against comments at /vehicle_103276-Ford-Capri-1970.html which make it uncertain where this was filmed - either in Africa or maybe not Africa at all. -- Last edit: 2012-07-06 17:37:26 |

Incorrect attribution, brochure copy shown in link. The commercial vehicles based on the Oxford were referred to as "Cowley" when based on the MO Oxford, and "1/2 ton" when based on the series II/III. Link to "www.google.co.uk" |

Smooth rear body sides suggest ½-Ton based on S2/3 rather than MO. 1956 date OK? or earlier? |

I think (no proof) that the MO commercial models ran on for a while after the SII passenger cars were introduced, so 1956 probably not far out. -- Last edit: 2012-07-05 21:43:00 |
