1980-1984 they were made. Quite an uncommon car even where I come from. I know they changed the grill design for these cars but I'm not sure what year. |

My parents had a brown one when I was little...they hated it. It used to overheat constantly...and it was a fairly new car at the time. There's also a light blue two door one in a junkyard just a couple of houses down from where I live. In fact, I photographed it not too long ago: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0803/skidmark84/iseeyouyoubastard.jpg |

Yeah the X-body was never known for its reliability. I'm a die hard GM fan and I'll even admit to it. The front drive A-bodies and N-bodies, which are based off of the X-body were much better cars. |

It appears to be a 1983-84 cause of the side mirrors, you sure rarely see any of the early 1980s X-body cars on the road anymore due to poor reliability problems, last night I saw an early 1980s Buick Skylark (1980-81) parked at Wal-Mart with its lights on. |

I do see X-bodies. Mostly Citations though. The other night I saw a Phoenix hatchback (which was a treat since those are pretty rare nowadays). |

Last week I saw an early 1980s Buick Skylark 4 door driving around town, it was orange and it looked pretty beat up, you rarely see any of the Phoenix's around anymore sad to say. |

More like GM X (FWD) platform version. |

From the tail lights you can only tell that it's an 82-84. The other photo shows the front end, which indicates its an 84. The reason these cars used to overheat is because the cooling fan didn't turn on until 235 degrees F. Your parents needed to get a new cooling fan switch for it. Is it obvious yet that I own one of these? I still drive an 81 daily. They were decent cars if you took care of them. But yes GM learned from these cars how they could do a better job with front wheel drive cars, which is why later on the Cutlass Ciera, for example, was a better car. Same engines and transmissions, steering and suspension, in the X bodies as in the A bodies. The Skylark sold in much greater numbers than the Omega, which is also a reason why after 20+ years you're more likely to see a Skylark if you see an X body at all. |

I like these. Nice styling with chrome trim makes them look classier than a lot of cars. Nicely done interiors. Good interior room, but not too big on the outside. Decent gas mileage. |
