I honestly thought they were German, like the Mercedes-Benz cars. This MB series - "Rundhauber" in German - meaning "rounded hood" - was produced in Germany until 1995. It had its peak market share in the 1970s - later it was mainly manfactured for export and for use as fire engine. In more rural countries, those were manufactured even longer and also beefed up with some injections of more modern technology from time to time. The south & latin american factories & licensees produced those trucks a long time, and some Asian ones, too. You will find large numbers of the rounded hood trucks in the Mideast region today, manufactured in license by Iran Khodro in Teheran. They will be phased out slowly in the next years, as Iran Khodro started licensing the Actros series some time ago. mm ◊ 2006-06-23 23:50	OK, got your point. The movie was filmed in US + Canada. The truck looks like what Mercedes-Benz had in production in their latin/south american factories like Brazil that time. Some of them are still in service in french state fleets of fire-engine, or EDF GDF fleets...It's one of my favorite lorry in the Mercedes range
Hiergehts ◊ 2006-06-27 01:04	I think this is a later USA version L 1315. The earlier versions of this sold on US had 2 round 'sealed beam' type headlamps but at some point in the early-mid 1980's they charged to this typical US style 4 lamp setup for the remainder of being were sold in USA and as far as I know Canada.
