This should be three star since one of the stars of the film (Richard Pryor) drives off in it. It is featured in a few scenes before the train crash at the film's climax and rolls off of its display stand during that crash. Also, the X1/9 designation 138AS is partly wrong. 138AS applies to the 1500cc cars first sold in '78 (I think). The earlier cars (1300cc) were 128AS. |

I just read a really good book called "Becoming Richard Pryor" and they say the car is a Dodge Dart. |

I once owned a 1979 Fiat X1/9 with the 1,500CC engine. Its VIN began with 128AS1. -- Last edit: 2024-10-29 12:52:06 |

@bux48 is there anything to change here? Based on the above comment? |

I think it was already noticed that all X1/9 have 128AS in the VIN, 138AS is the engine code of 1500 motor, as confirmed here: https://www.x1-9.it/DATI04.htm So we would have two options: use 128AS for all based on VIN/chassis codes, or split 1300 from 1500 based on motor codes. What do the others think? |

Glass's lists UK codes as 128AS for 1300 and 128AS1 for 1500. |

Those are the initial sequences of their respective chassis numbers (before VIN started) |
