When started its sold with 'Santana' make in Spain? In Italy, now Santana import the PS10 (Land Rover based) and the ex-Vitara, hardtop and wagon. They are the only 4x4s sold here with this badge, except the Suzuki Santana SJ. |

Thru 1986-1990 was marketed in Italy the Suzuki SJ410 made into Linares plants of ex-Metalurgica de Santa Ana(since 1982's 1st Jan.renamed Santana S.A.);really some ones were sold in Italy already some years before,but those were private car wholesalers Imports;officially imports starts in 1986 only,'cause Spain before that year don't belongs still at EEC Countries,therefore were forbidden official exports in Italy,'cause but if the Suzuki-Santana SJ410 was assembled in Spain,in Italy that was subjected at inique"contingented imports"national production sales protective law that limitates imports of Jap-made motor vehicles,shared thru various Importers in a number under the 1000 units per annum--law undue in 1992,in times of globalized markets;was the same Importer of Jap-build Suzuki SJ 410 and past LJ80(1st Suzuki car to be imported in Italy,in 1980),Autexpò of Bozen that give the start at imports of Santana-badged SJ from Spain(Santana would sold here only the 1-lt. version,but if in Japan was available also in SJ413 version,1.3lt.,since 1984)and breaking Japan imports of previous Suzuki Jimny 1000,that ends to be imported(it will do a come back in Italy in 1998,when launched Jap-restyled Jimny);later the car becomes Suzuki Samurai(named as US-market versions)and under that name was still imported in 1989-1996 period;all Suzuki SJ made under license by Santana shown a small black tag placed on lower right edge of grille with"SANTANA" white writing in block letters;early ones importedfrom Spain had a double writing on rear swing-out tailgate's left side"SUZUKI(atop)SANTANA(below);the arrive of Vitara on Italian market in 1989 will lowered sales of Suzuki-Santana SJ410. |

^ back then he just dated plates. We have no idea if the plate belongs to this car, imported from elsewhere, etc. It should be reverted back to the earliest year possible without plate data confirming his post. |
