This is not a Pontiac Trans-Sport. It is a 1997 Pontiac Montana. We own it's chevy counterpart, the Venture. The first mini-van produced by Pontiac was the Trans-Sport, then Pontiac renamed the minivan, Montana. The Trans-Sport name lasted a while with Montana, it was then only a trim level. It was the 1st class model of the Montana line. The Models were: S, SE and Trans-Sport in order 3rd class to 1st. In 1999 Pontiac dropped the Trans-Sport model. In 2005 Pontiac completely re-modeled the Montana and renamed it The Pontiac Montana SV6. The car is still in production today. 1996 Chevrolet dropped it's version of the Trans-Sport, the Lumina APV and replaced it with the Montana's sister, the Venture (which my Mom has) and in in 2001 Oldsmobile dropped it's version of the Montana, the Silhouette and it was transferred to Buick, and renamed, remodeled and rebadged as the Buick Terraza in 2006. Today the Trans-Sport, Lumina APV and Silhouette are the Pontiac Montana SV6, Chevrolet Uplander, Buick Terraza and, now, the Saturn Relay. Actually, it was called Trans Sport in 1997. It was re-named Montana in 1999. |

And below the Trans-Sport badging is the Montana logo ![]() I always wondered companies stop making cars, why don't they just redesign them. And I walso wonder if the Trans-Sport is still in production, in another country. I just found ou that, even though in America, Plymouth went out of business and it's minivan, the Voyager, switched to Chrysler for less then a year before production stopped, in some other country, I forget which, their still exists a production of the Chrysler (or Plymouth) Voyager! Who knew? |

Nope, this is just a Trans Sport. Montana started out as a trim level with the pseudo-suv look (as evidenced by the picture you provided), with the grey body cladding and the wheels, among other things. However, it didn't become an actual model until '99. |

What is the difference between the Pontiac minivan listed and the Trans Sport Montana in the picture I posted? Same 2 line edging trim along the side of the car, same slits under the headlights, same five spoke tires and same five larger slits under the bumper. And the Pontiac Trans-Sport Montana was availible witht the grey cladding in other colors and this Trans-Sport has the cladding, exept it has it in body color edition. And the only minivan made by Pontiac to ever get the pseudo-suv look was the Pontiac Montana SV6 the car that replaced the regular Montana. Otherwise there is no difference between the Trans-Sport and Montana's extrior up untill they were replaced. |
