I think it's 1937 Studebaker Dictator Coupe. But,broad metal plate added radiator grill, front fender cutted and rear window opening is differlent. Dick Tracy is based on comics and "Walt Disney"movie. I wonder it is remodeled so as not to feel the reality. |

I go along with that, it resembles of that in many ways. I havn´t seen the comics but I think they were of the late thirties, maybe the original drawings looked something like this, and that´s the reason that all cars are modified? |

It´s a mirror of the time, when the military was in fashion. Commander, President were other Studebakers of the time. Opel had the Kapitän and Admiral. |

The Dictator model name dated from 1929. It was changed for model year 1938, as Hitler made himself less and less popular. |

As the coupe is being crushed, you can see the straight front axle, so this was a 5A Coupe. In the distance shot, it does not appear to have the fake chrome straps added to the grille, and the headlamps look like the correct bulb-and-reflector type for 1937. In the close up, the headlamps look to have been modified for sealed beam bulbs, and the ugly straps appear on the grille. The front fenders may have been cut, as was often done when crushed or torn. If you plan on destroying the car under another, it probably doesn't matter WHAT shape it was in. |
