We also have the Ford K-Series [640E], so possible naming conflict? Probably needs some deductive guesswork to pin down a name/date. UK naming followed the path taken by jfs of Thames brand until March 65 when all Thames lines were renamed Ford (see also 400E, Anglia vans etc), which makes that red one in Jale's link with 66 D plate and Ford badge a useful reference for the change. But strong suspicions that Thames was not used for export branding (or not used for exports to non-English-speaking markets, so these were probably sold as Fords from debut (1962?) in somewhere like Morocco, maybe with Thames Trader as model name. A wobbly is that I think Ebro made some similar models with this cab, and maybe Ford Germany did something similar as well?? But if we assume UK build, which I think we have loads more of than any other source, 1962+ Ford (make) Trader or Thames Trader (model) [642E] (LHD code), UK origin, made for Morocco is my best punt. Grille badge here seems words rather than F O R D, so there may be another title in play. |

From recall of trips to Spain back in the day the EBRO versions always looked slightly different as though the drawings were slightly changed by metrication. /vehicle_402629-Ebro-C-Series.html Haven’t spotted one with a bonnet. The grille says F O R D (the 'O' is slightly out of position), the grille itself is UK source, not Ford FK (Germany) which had vertical slits for the grille. For Ford UK initially, in February 1962, Thames Trader normal control Thames Trader NC 15, 20, 30, 50 and 70. Then after 1965 Ford K-Series. Ford K150, K200, K300, K600, K700 and K750. Ebro doesn't appear to me to feature with Ford on the grille. |
