Probably a wrong guess, but some kind of Thompson Brothers-bodied Leyland mobile tanker? Link to "www.aviationancestry.co.uk" |

Most likely a correct guess. |

Developed by Thompson Brothers in conjunction with Shell, a 4,000-gallon tanker of chassis-less construction based on Leyland Octopus running gear. Prototype from late 1949 and in production by early 1951. Previous Thompson refuellers found 1948 Leyland Steer (6x2) and the Fordson based chassis-less 'Tweed' 1,2000 gallon (4x2) -- Last edit: 2019-12-22 12:16:54 |
