Supposedly a RT/SE coupe with a 383/Torqueflite, VIN JS29N0El08805. Not originally a convertible, but a decent original RT/SE that the production cut the roof off of.  Apparently now owned by someone on the cuda-challenger.com forums. -- Last edit: 2015-07-23 06:51:03 |

I sold this car to Oliver Stone specifically for the movie. It was a true FE-5 Ralley Red 1970 Challenger R/T Convertible. It was completely original and had matching #'s. The VIN was JS27NOB1152585. I still have the build sheet for the car. It was in very good condition, not highly optioned 383 magnum with a 727 automatic trans, 391 sure grip rear end, and power top. As the movie studio told me, they actually had 2 Challengers, one was a hard top, and the top was removed. That was a rough car, and was used for the scene where the girl was standing on the hood. My car was preserved and used in all the scene's where it wasn't abused. The movie studio told me I would probably be able to buy the car back after the production for 1/2 for what they paid for it. I was buying a house at the time, and needed the money, and with the possibility of getting my car back went for the deal. Long story short, someone from the production company decided they wanted to add the car to their personal collection, and I seem to have lost it forever. I did see the car a few years later at the Mopar Spring Fling show in L.A. but was not able to find the owner. I wish I knew what happened to it now, as I miss it............ |

I also have a challenger RT conv in FE-5 red and would love to make it look like the car used in the movie. Is there any way I could get a photo of your build sheet. I think my car is very close in options. |
