Doesn't really deserve a page, except that I can't work out what it is. Best guess is a VW "Thing" which wasn't sold here, but looks yellow (probably UK) plate. Ideas??

Quote Word has it that when the right-hand drive Type 182 was first marketed as the ‘Thing’ here in 1974/5, dealers objected and a competition was launched to come up with a better name – hence the Trekker. It’s thought that just 100 were imported to the UK, and we got Mexican made examples with larger rounded rear lights. Other Type 182s were made for other RHD markets and it’s reported that Morocco was supplied with 20 such examples, with reports that vehicles used in Indonesia are also Type 182 models.

Quote Originally developed for the West German Army, the Type 181 was also sold to the public, as the Kurierwagen in West Germany, the Trekker (RHD Type 182) in the United Kingdom and The Thing in the United States (1973-74). Volkswagen imported 300 righthand drive Trekkers 182's during 1974-75 but only 71 were sold starting at chassis number 185 2086406 and makes it rarer than a Series One, flat floor E-Type Jaguar.
- from 2017 UK auction listing for OLW 511P - failed to sell, £12-16,000 estimate.

I'd say that was uncommon, even if they started a colony in the remote North East  . Seems our first UK Thing/Trekker and our first "Typ 182" for RHD, unless there are others which haven't been split off the 181s.
