It looks a bit bigger than a J1 as twin rear wheels, maybe a J4 In UK the smaller J's up to J3 had a slightly different front with peaks over headlamps but don't know whether this was the case in NZ. |

This model's front end is wider (by about 7 cm) and has larger wheel-arches compared with the J0-J4 models. These truck ranges had two different wheel diameters, also the different tyre widths account for the different front end styling. Bedford J1 to J4 are normally on 16-inch wheels with a low-load height and the above 5 tons J5 to J7 have 20 inch wheels. In Australian and New Zealand markets they appear to follow the UK range in design. However it appears in other export regions, Africa and India/Pakistan etc. the smaller trucks also have the larger wheels possibly for increased ground clearance and tyre durability? Therefore they look to use the wider front end. |
