1984 historical drama mini-series documenting the lives of four immigrants consisting of two Irish sisters, a working-class German, and a Jewish Russian as they immigrate to the United States through Ellis Island in the early 1900s and their pursuit of the American dream, just like the 12 million immigrants who came to the U.S. through Ellis Island in New York from 1892 to 1954. Starring Peter Riegert, Gregory Paul Martin, Alice Krige, Judi Bowker, Milo O'Shea, Lila Kaye, Faye Dunaway, Liam Neeson in a very early acting credit, and Kate Burton alongside her father, legendary actor Richard Burton in what would his final screen appearance before his death at just 58 years old :(

Named for Samuel Ellis, a Welshman who bought the island in 1774, Ellis Island was expanded via land reclamation projects in the 1890s through the 1930s. During the World Wars, it was used as a detention camp for POWs. After the immigration station was closed in 1954, the island was essentially abandoned and the buildings fell into disrepair. In 1964, the National Parks Service bought the Island and added it to the Statue of Liberty National Museum and in August that same year, President Lyndon B. Johnson approved the development of the area into a museum and national park, which fell through. In 1982, through the efforts of President Ronald Reagan, Chrysler Corporation chairman Iacocca, and former president Gerald Ford, $350 million was raised towards the restoration of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in time for the 1986 Centennial of the Statue of Liberty being gifted to the United States by France. Since 1990, the main building has been open to the public as a museum.

Set from 1907 to 1916
