Vera Miles drives a sedan in this film although I have no idea what it is. |

I think it was a "cheap" economy Ford of some kind...probably supposedly a rental in the story. I've seen this movie several times in the past, and I'm actually in the middle of watching this movie again right now, . I'll try and remember to look for Vera and her car. ![]() |

Okay, the car Vera Miles drove in this film was a new model (at the time) light green-colored Ford Granada Sedan--either a 1981 or 1982 model as most of the filming took place in 1982. It's hard for me to tell which year it was?? Vera's character of Lila had gone back to the fictional Fairvale, California to stay and try to get Norman Bates re-committed. So, the Granada was probably supposed to be a rental. The movie was originally to be released in 1982 (as in the film it's stated it's 22 years later from the original "Psycho"--which would be 1982) but some kind of delay caused the film to be released sometime in 1983 instead. -- Last edit: 2012-10-05 21:12:48 |

A 1974-1978 AMC Matador taxi is used both in this movie and Psycho III, and oddly isn't listed for either. |

![]() 1983 thriller/horror/slasher movie sequel to Alfred Hitchcock's legendary Psycho. Set 22 years after the original, Norman Bates has been rehabilitated and is released from the mental hospital to start a new life free of his deceased mother's torment. However, Marion Crane's sister Lila is none too happy about her sister's murderer being released with no strings attached and sets out to try and drive Norman crazy again at the same time as he endears himself to a young woman played by Meg Tilly! Norman also has to contend with his crimes being known which the current motel manager is all too happy to mock him for. Before long, bodies begin to pile up! Is Norman back to his shower-slashing ways or is somebody attempting to frame him? Can he withstand Lila's assault on his sanity? Starring Anthony Perkins, Vera Miles, Meg Tilly, Robert Loggia, Hugh Gillin, and Dennis Franz! When this movie was initially announced, critics and audiences who had loved the original were not happy, especially since this movie was being made three years after the death of Alfred Hitchcock. Anthony Perkins stated in an interview "It's always risky when you set out to sequelize a picture that is held in such high regard." What had happened was Robert Bloch, author of the book Psycho was based on, wrote a sequel novel about Hollywood making a movie based on Norman Bates. Universal Studios hated the book, as it was making fun of all the slasher movies which Psycho had spawned, such as Halloween and Friday the 13th. Originally planned as a made-for-TV movie, that changed when Tom Holland (no, not that one) penned a script that was so good, it convinced Anthony Perkins to reprise his role as Norman Bates which in turn had Universal upgrade to a theatrical release and the increased budget that came with it! Like Perkins, Vera Miles was reluctant to return but was won over by the script. Psycho II came out the same weekend as Return of the Jedi but still managed to hold it's own, making over $8.3 million in just it's first three days! It was also given positive reviews by surprised critics and has held up as a surprisingly great sequel! One of my personal favorites mostly due to Anthony Perkins.
