Now we are in the days of remake everything and make movies without good stories, it's almost like in the last few years the intelligence level of people in Hollywood has dropped.

Not sure as it's hard to see, but in a few brief shots there is a red car parked next to the Oldsmobile in the house's driveway. The line in the book could be referencing that vehicle.

This film also has a man tearing off his entire face down the bone, a little girl kidnapped by angry spirits, a small boy being attacked by a tree and a clown doll, actual skeletons in the pool, and an attempted s*xual assault by a ghost... but sure, lets single out someone flipping the bird as the strange reason this film only has a PG rating
