GodzillaFan54 ◊ 2025-05-02 22:34	1981 comedy presenting a heavily-fictionalized account of what the little people actors who played the munchkins in The Wizard of Oz got up to during their stay at the Culver Hotel. Two of the actual Munchkins actors from Wizard of Oz, Jerry Maren and Margaret Pellegrini, are also in the film. This was an early role of Zelda Rubenstein who would reach fame as Tangina Barrons in the Poltergeist trilogy. The main stars are Chevy Chase and Carrie Fisher! Sadly, neither is given much to do and both of them later stated this was the worst movie they were ever in. A fun, stupid way to kill 90 minutes, if you ask me. A sequel featuring people taller than average was planned but was cancelled when this film bombed. Jerry Maren later trashed the film in his autobiography, stating the following; "The film really exaggerated and exploited the goings-on of the midgets way back in 1938 when we made The Wizard of Oz in Culver City. For decades, crazy rumors kept haunting all of us who worked on the original film. Stories that we wreaked havoc at the hotel, held wild orgies, and partied most of the time during production. People used to say that the police were called every night and murders happened. All kinds of crazy stuff. I'm here to tell you it's all a bunch of crap." Assorted traffic Set in 1938.
