He soon escapes via train (which was sadly only seen in shadow) and seeks refuge with a Native Canadian shaman or "dreamspeaker" who manages to help the child with his issues but the child is sadly taken back to the institution which undoes all of the shaman's progress. Can the boy escape and get the help he needs or is he doomed to spend the rest of his life stuck? Wikipedia claimed this is an adaptation of a 1978 novel. Considering that this movie aired in 1976 and 1977, that would only be possible if the author was a time traveler  More likely the book is an adaptation of the film, as they share the same writer. I have since corrected the article.I'm just glad to finally add another Canadian TV film! Airdate: 1976 (month and day unknown), later rebroadcast as part of CBC TV's For The Record anthology series on January 23rd, 1977. |
