![]() ![]() Steven Spielberg's second movie after Duel. Seeming to foreshadow his involvement with Poltergeist, this movie is about a family who moves into a house that ends up being haunted by malevolent spirits. Spielberg manages to bring his trademark camerawork and eerie atmosphere to the film. In stark contrast to Duel, this movie only features a single car in any noteworthy capacity. Universal must have told him to tone down the car action this time around as I'd imagine sending a semi flying full tilt over the side of a mountain along with a brand-new Plymouth must have been costly. The only other motor vehicle that shows up is this two-star moving truck that is only shown from behind. ![]() This is easily his most obscure movie as it was never given a VHS release and I've never heard anyone talk about it. Everyone (especially on this site) knows of Duel and it's got a huge following, but Something Evil seems to have been forgotten by all but hardcore Spielberg fans and '70s TV horror fanatics. Airdate: January 21st, 1972. EDIT: Soviet title is incomplete; "щее" kept getting parsed as "" -- Last edit: 2023-09-18 15:31:21 |
