Starring James Earl Jones as President Douglass Dillman, this was originally intended to be an ABC Movie of the Week before it was decided that a film that depicted a non-white President should be theatrically released. Four days before Obama took office, Jones revealed in an interview that he was displeased with the final product, stating "It was done as a TV special. Had we known it was to be released as a motion picture, we would have asked for more time and more production money. I regret that." I agree as a film of this subject matter in this era was worthy of a proper A-list budget. It's certainly worthy of better-quality uploads, I'll tell ya that! The film also depicts Dillman as the first President not to be elected into office or into Vice Presidency, foreshadowing what would happen to Gerald R. Ford just over two years later. This film also contains the last-ever screen appearance of legendary comedian Jack Benny.
