Actually he was born in Sucha, Galicia, Austria-Hungary [now Sucha beskidzka, Poland] according to IMDB. I consider his way of playing very European and this may explain his wonderfull comedies. If you look forward to watch 'Love in the Afternoon' and many others with lots of good dialogues and also many, many external scenes (cars, trucks, buses, boats) I am sure you a real fan of him.
