2005 made-for-TV docu-drama about the Tenerife airport disaster where KLM Flight 4805 crashed into Pan Am Flight 1736 at take-off speed after mistakenly believing that they were cleared for take-off and the runway was empty, as well as a thick fog making visibility incredibly poor. Neither plane was even supposed to be at Tenerife, as a bomb had exploded at a nearby airport, causing diversions. With the captain of the KLM plane achieving desperate liftoff too late and tearing though most of the Pan Am, everyone onboard the KLM flight was killed when the plane crashed afterwards and the full fuel tanks ignited. The Pan Am didn't fare much better as only 61 survived out 396 passengers and crew. With 583 total fatalities, it remains the deadliest plane crash in history. Several survivors are shown talking about the experience throughout, including crew members!

It's honestly astonishing how many coincidences, mistakes, and misunderstandings it took for the Tenerife disaster to take place. Had certain things happened even a second apart, the crash would have been averted :(

My gosh, 583 people died, and two planes involved, and this being the first time I've heard of this tragedy... :(
