 The movie is a dramatization of General Romeo Dallaire's book 'Shake Hands with the Devil' and portrays his experiences as the UN peacekeeping commander during the genocide. There's also a pretty good documentary of the same name made in 2004 that shows Dallaire's return to Rwanda ten years after the genocide.
