As a 'tec story it's very slow-paced and all the usual tropes/cliches are poured in from , so first half just trundles along, but interesting for its picture of how regimented, bleak and artificial life in a toffs school must be. But gradually something deeper and darker emerges as the portrait of a man disintegrating from stress, guilt and trauma, which holds the second half together very powerfully until it reverts to formula with a rubbish ending. David Morrissey is superb as lead character, Emma Appleton also very good as his daughter, but Eva Myles as the main detective doesn't really make it hers. Recent props like this one have a side code, roof code and back code all the same letters so if you can't see the plate you can sometimes fall back on that.
