15 minute celebration of "the first 150 years of London buses from the first horse-drawn ones through to the Routemaster". Taken from BFI DVD set - British Transport Films Volume Ten: London on the Move It all started with George Shillibeer in 1829, as captured in this amazing period footage and apart from a brief flirtation with steam-powered thing in 1833 was all horsey until about 1900. Which means first half of film has nowt in it for us. Then it bursts into life. Commentary is gentle and non-technical, so doesn't identify everything shown and is sometimes vague about dates/names, but the sequence should be chronological. Let the chaos commence! |
