Another week, another Parker family adventure! In this one, Ralphie has his sights set on the attractive new girl next door, Josephine Cosnowski, while also being obsessed with Polish culture; the Old Man has his sights set on a used Buick as the new family car; and Randy practices for the school's Thanksgiving play!

In addition to providing the voice for grown-up Ralphie, Jean Shepherd also appears as a grown-up Ralphie on-screen in a pre-credits introduction which as far as I know is the only time he ever actually played Ralphie on-camera.

A car stated to be owned by Flick is briefly used, but not enough is visible to identify or warrant a listing.

And finally, this punk rock chick is brought to you by 1985!

This 1982 TV installment in the Parker Family Saga makes up the 10th episode of the first season of American Playhouse. In it, the Parker clan prepares for an Independence Day blowout which features a tense finale involving a runaway firework the size of an artillery shell!

Like in the later Josephine Cosnowski episode, Jean Shepherd appears on screen as a grown-up Ralphie Parker in a pre-credits intro where he visits the famous South of the Border tourist attraction just off of I-95 and buys an amount of fireworks that would have Homeland Security paying you a visit nowadays. In the film proper, Ralphie is played by a young Matt Dillon in his TV debut!

Both Parker Playhouse episodes curiously feature the Jaws theme; this one features it when a man with walking up the street with said artillery firework and Cosnowski plays it over footage of a used car salesman closing in on a potential customer/victim.

In one particularly funny scene, Ralphie accidentally drives his brother Randy insane while practicing his tuba which has enough bass to drown out his brother losing his mind
