![]() 1962 Canadian western/drama about a family who moves from Eastern Canada to stake their fortune in the Saskatchewan prairie, a decision that brings untold livelihood to the family for most of the early 1900s... and then the Great Depression hits, bringing a lengthy drought with it. With the ground drying up and the patriarch falling ill, the family hopes and prays for their fortune to turn for the good once more. A very interesting look at how farming evolved during the first decades of the 20th century, from ox-pulled ploughs and horse-drawn carts to steam engines, tractors, and automobiles! Massey-Harris horse-pulled combine harvester, or something similar. ![]() Wall of license plates ![]() NOT a TV film, my brain just went on autopilot. Set from around 1900 to 1938. The first full-length movie from the National Film Board of Canada. |
