directed by Pen-ek Ratanaruang.

It could have been the bitter-sweet story of a young woman,

Pu —Fay Atsawet, quite touching— at loss between the fond memories of her dear departed mother, the boredom of her everyday life (she is a clerk at a local minimarket in Bangkok), the annoyances raised by her childish father and her blossoming love for a young man, Noi (Ray MacDonald) who is quite charming.

Unfortunately, this young man is also a hitman for the mob, and he has a contract on Pu's father who happened to mess around with the local boss' girl, Yok (played by one Champagne X!). And the movie takes a turn in direction of a kind of Hong-Kongish/Japanese fashionable formulaic formalist representation of violence with 'trendy' images. This part is both a bore and utterly unrealistic. Too bad.

Night, rain and thick traffic in Bangkok…
