Filmed in the UK, France and the U.S., Nighthawks stars Slyvester Stallone and Billy Dee Williams as two NYPD detectives pursuing a German terrorist (played by Rutger Hauer in his American film debut For impdb.org: A Bell 206 is used by Stallone when responding to the hijacking of a skytram: -- Last edit: 2011-06-04 01:03:17 |

You mean an overlooked Rutger Hauer flick. I have a memory of seeing this way back when, but remember nothing whatever of it. Time to see it again. |

^ so you already know missing construction vehicles after Sly first chases Rutger out of a night club - P&H Omega rough terrain crane , you will easy recognize it - another Bucyrus-Erie Dynahoe backhoe - wheel loader which is Caterpillar 980C -- Last edit: 2025-01-20 19:33:08 |

As I said, I don't remember anything (though the skytram rings a faint bell), but thanks for the tip. I'll be on the lookout for those three. |

“You go to a better life.” Good popcorn movie zipping along fast. Stallone's antics on and off the set make him seem like a very sad, pathetic little man, but apparently years later he owned up to his impossible behavior and praised Rutger Hauer (who's indeed terrific as always), so I suppose one has to give him credit for that. Upgraded to HD and added some vehicles. bonus Mini: bonus VW relic: bonus miniature: > blurmobiles: |

^ the original longer cut is not shown either small things like notice Rutger gets shot 2 times by Sly but is seen with 6 bullet holes in chest at end , hence they cut out the shooting (revolver has 6 shots so a full clip fired) "Bionic Woman" Lindsay Wagner said she had a much larger role but was cut down a lot -- Last edit: 2025-01-23 00:48:04 |

another trivia Rutger uses the Ingram MAC-10 machine pistol , one of those Hollywood darlings for bad guys in 70s to 90s this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zoF2sRIk2Ck in reality is one of the worst machine pistols ever made, open bolt extremely high fire rate of nearly 1500 round , you run very quickly out of ammo and accuracy is non existing really that's why this weapon was never adopted by professional military/ police forces -- Last edit: 2025-01-23 00:55:42 |

Based on what's published out there, one can surmise there are/were four (five, if you count the version without Brown Sugar on the soundtrack) cuts of the movie: - one preview cut with more Hauer (and his confederate) which was favored by test audiences; - one preview cut with more Stallone (and Wagner as his ex-wife); - Stallone's re-edit of the Hauer cut to have more of him and less of Hauer; - the final cut which was apparently the studio's re-edit of Stallone's re-edit to remove most of violence to avoid the X rating and Stallone/Wagner scenes so as to keep up the pace. Given how happy studios are to double, triple and quadruple dip, I'm genuinely surprised none of the alternate cuts were ever offered as some sort of a special edition or something. Perhaps they threw away the footage. |
