Interesting note for Jnglmpera, the name of the director of this film, Simon Cheen, was actually a pseudonym for Shin Sang-ok, a South Korean film director who was abducted (along with his wife) by North Korean intelligence and forced to make propaganda films for the regime for ten years, with none other than Kim jong-Il as producer! They were eventually able to escape their captors at the 1986 Berlin Film Festival by way of escaping their body guards and getting to the US embassy where they were immediately granted political asylum. The films they made for North Korea include Salt, Love Love My Love, and Pulgasari, the latter of which is a giant monster movie and is the only North Korean film, to my knowledge, that has gotten a North American home video release. https://i.redd.it/a32o59bhxvu71.jpg -- Last edit: 2022-04-16 14:29:42 |

Bulgasari is an interesting movie... We have a South Korean director abducted by Kim Jong IL (who wanted to make his own Godzilla), with staffs from Tsuburaya brought to film it under the guise that they were filming for the Chinese... It's quite the story ![]() |
