This scene was based on the murder of Thomas "Tommy" DeSimone who shot by two hitmen from Gambino Mob on the morning of the 14th January 1979. It was alleged that DeSimone's Capo, Paul Vino had approved DeSimone's murder in retaliation for the murders of William "Billy Batts" Bentvena who was bashed and stabbed by Burke and DeSimone on the 11th June 1970 and Ronald "Foxy" Jerothe who was shot by DeSimone in the doorway of Jerothe's apartment on the 12th December 1974 as well as the attempted rape of Henry Hill's wife, Karen.
