I am pretty sure it is an Opel Kapitan ca. 1938-40 |

That what I was about to say. In fact, that what I thought when I saw the movie. |

It's a post-war Kapitän, 1949/50, see the round front lamps. |

This car is a bit to new for the films seting(1938), its wasn't built until 11 years later. |

@Trainboy12: it's just a Hollywood-movie (indeed a really good one, I like it, too), but there is nearly nothing really historical correct. Neither the cars, many other requisites and not even the historical facts, which shall be involved in this movie. |

P.S. The SS-plate is a poor fake, too. It's not even made with license-plate-tools, they used the tools for plates as "private parking" or "no entry". And the yellow for lamp is from the 50ies. Made by Bosch. P.S. II: Have you seen the 1977- and 1988-motorbikes in this movie, too? -- Last edit: 2009-12-17 23:23:19 |

Yeap, the most classic cut-cornering in Second-War films is a featuring post-war versions of pre-war cars -> Mercedes W136, Citroen Traction Avant, Opel Kapitan, FIAT 1100/Simca 8, many others. :P -- Last edit: 2009-12-18 15:13:10 |

Not to mention substitute and replica tanks and armoured vehicles - films often use replicas or substitutes that may or may not look anything like the original. Genuine German tanks are particularly rare. And just about anything that looks old enough will be used as a Wehrmacht truck. |
