1501 Special much more common in UK than 1301 Special. My dad had 2 1501s in this colour and trim - he collected the 2nd brand new from George Heath Motors in Birmingham, filled up the tank, drove 3 miles home and discovered a bootful of petrol. Called the fire brigade and chaos ensued - police turned up as well - blocked the street and wanted to evacuate houses. Eventually sorted safely, car taken away and he refused to drive a Simca ever again. |

@ dsl: shouldn't the Special be set as complement, like for the other ones? -- Last edit: 2015-04-12 23:50:56 |

No idea. Looks like M suffix = 73-74. I've no info for exterior changes after 71 - just slight interior tweaks - but I have a vague memory that final cars had tints. All UK 1301/1501 sales stopped in Aug 75 - which from http://simca80.typepad.fr/simca/simca_13001500_13011501/index.html - seems to match when 1501 production stopped, with 1301s staggering along to mid 76. That page also says vinyl roof option from Oct 72, but I don't remember ever seeing one in UK. |

Thanks for these details. As I said some times ago (about a 1300 ) , SimcaLand is a fan website, but I think it can indeed be trusted about most of the informations it gives... -- Last edit: 2015-04-13 02:06:11 |
